How EventKaki handles Sarawak’s busiest event days.
Registration, payments, QR tickets and check-in for conferences, galas and races across Sarawak. Built and run by Techlaju in Kuching since 2016.
The problem
What wasn’t working.
Event organisers in Sarawak used to juggle Google Forms, bank-in slips, WhatsApp screenshots and printed name lists. Payments had to be matched by hand. On the day, volunteers searched paper lists while queues grew at the door.
Popular races made it worse. When thousands of runners try to register in the same hour, a basic form or shared hosting simply falls over, and the organiser’s phone does not stop ringing.
What we built
EventKaki, built in Kuching.
EventKaki puts the whole event in one place: online registration, payment gateway, a unique QR ticket emailed to every participant, check-in from any phone, and live and post-event reports.
Each event type keeps the tools its team needs: races and marathons, conferences and seminars (halls, sessions, a speaker portal and slide approvals), golf days, dinner RSVPs, expos with a TV-ready lucky draw, and wellness programmes. Ushers check guests in on PIN-protected screens by QR or name search.
Over the years we added what organisers kept asking for: multiple ticket categories and waves, table management for gala dinners, lucky draws, badge printing, CPD attendance reports for professional conferences, and race-pack collection to keep queues moving.
Results
What changed.
Batang Lupar Bridge 1 Half Marathon: 2,800 slots released in three waves. The first 1,000 filled in 8 hours, the next 1,000 in 3 hours and the last 800 in 2 hours, with no downtime.
Sarawak Energy Marathon: 8,000+ participants across staff, dependants, public and offline bulk entries, managed from one view.
BESarawak 20th Anniversary dinner: 450 guests checked in and sent straight to their assigned tables.
APOCP 13th General Assembly: delegates from 20+ countries checked in over three conference days, with attendance records for CPD.
